Lets talk layers with Klim!

So stoked on Klim's new colours and styles! I received a couple boxes full of amazing gear this week from them. Lots of goodies for all the She Shreds clients this season!

But lets talk layers here! The photo below is my personal favorite suite for this year.

The womens Alpine parka (non-insulated) and the mens Powerxross pants (non-insulated).

Why do i pick non-insulated stuff? Well let me tell you!

I like to layer it up! Riding in the mountains we are constantly standing, moving and jumping around on our snowmobile. We get hot very fast. Thats why I like to layer it up.

Lets say its about -10C outside my layering choices for that day would be for a base layer the Lady Tach LS T, followed by the Ladies Sundance Shirt then the Alpine Parka. That would give me the option to shed a layer if I get too hot and put it back on once I cool down at lunch or something. Don't get me wrong, if its colder outside I will probably be wearing my other suit - the womens Allure Parka (insulated) and the Allure bib pants (insulated) with less layering - probably just the Lady Tech LS under the jacket (I may consider putting the Sundance shirt in my pack for additional layering incase). Ill be wearing the Adrenaline GTX boot and Powerxross gloves as well!

Thank You!

Well its sad but its a wrap for the season!  Wow what an amazing season has just flown by!  I have had the honor to be part of quite a few once in a lifetime opportunities, I got to meet some truly amazing people, accomplish goals, and best of all; spend so many days adventuring free as a bird in the backcountry.  Thank you to each and everyone that I have had the honor to smile with this season!  Stay tuned in the fall on the facebook page and web site for all the 2014/2015 She Shreds clinic and avalanche course dates.  She Shreds is now open for adventures in the backcountry for men too!  Have a great summer!

Toyota BC and She Shreds Mountain Adventures!

Talk about such an awesome opportunity!!  She Shreds got to go have an Adventure in Bralorne BC with Dan Treadway for a Toyota commercial.  We loaded up our Toyota Tundra's and headed off for 3 days of fun and adventure.  Tim Grey from Mountain Sledder Magazine came to write a story on it and Jonathan Schramm from Dragon Factory Records produced this fun little edit!  Enjoy!

Changing Seasons...

The days are getting longer and the snow has pretty much melted; filling the lakes with cold crisp glacier water!  Pretty sad to have posted my sled for sale, but you know what?  Just gets me pumped for next winter!  Couldn’t have been more satisfied with this past season.  She Shreds Mountain Adventures was a HUGE success with the turn out of women that joined me for fun adventures in the back country as well as the massive recognition it brought to women in the snowmobile industry!  Couldn’t have done it without all the ladies that signed up for a She Shreds clinic, the huge support from all my sponsors (Klim, RSI, 509, Dayco, Valley Chainsaw, Ski Doo, FOX, Snowpulse, Mammut, Bulldog Decks, Slednecks, C&A Skis, Toyskinz, CFR, inReach Canada, joydigger.com, Divas Snowgear, Canadian Avalanche Association) and the support from all the industry (companies, magazines, websites, etc) and last but not least, my amazing guest coaches Stephanie LaRoy Schwartz and Nadine Overwater!  One more thing that I am absolutely honored about is the title that the BC snowmobile federation has given me - Snowmobiler of the year!  Thank you so much!

I have some really fun stuff planned for next season with She Shreds Mountain Adventures!  Hopefully some travelling to different countries to teach clinics around the world, some guest appearances for speeches about women in the snowmobile industry (one already set in Iowa in November 2013), and of course the same clinics offered in Revelstoke and Pemberton BC (large and private clinics).  Stayed tuned on the web site and Facebook for announcements of these future plans in the next couple months!  Looking forward to working with my current sponsors for next season and hopefully will be bring on a couple new ones!  But most of all I look forward to having fun in the backcountry with many more women!  Let the adventures begin!

If you’re wondering what to do to keep yourself fit and ready for next years snowmobile season, here are a couple tips I personally do to keep my mind and body ready for and amazing season ahead….

Living in Pemberton BC I am very fortunate to have all of my work out regimes 5 minutes from my front step!  Mountain biking, hiking, yoga, gym workouts, horse back riding etc.  My weekly workout schedule consists of:

Monday:  Combo Spin work out at the gym with my trainer Lindsay May – combination of spinning on a bike, muscle conditioning and hardcore abs workout

Tuesday:  Yoga at Tadasana Yoga Studio

Wednesday: Combo Spin work out at the gym with my trainer Lindsay May – combination of spinning on a bike, muscle conditioning and hardcore abs workout

Thursday:  Yoga at Tadasana Yoga Studio

Friday: Combo Spin work out at the gym with my trainer Lindsay May – combination of spinning on a bike, muscle conditioning and hardcore abs workout

Weekends:  usually a good mountain bike ride, hike, or some other fun outdoor activity.

Not to mention I try and get out on my bike mid week as much as I can too (each ride usually is about 1.5-3 hours) to keep the cardio up!  The downhill descents make the hard work going up pay off instantly!  I also get out on my horse about 3-4 times a week, which allows myself, my dog and horse to get a good work out in.  And yes I do work too in the evening at a restaurant so for all of you that think you don’t have time to work out because of your work schedule, think again!  Surfing is also an amazing work out!  I’ve been going on at least 1 surf trip a year for the past 4 years (this year I was lucky and have gone on 2 so far!)  Its an awesome cardiovascularwork out as well as a good muscular work out for the arms, shoulders, back and core. Surfing is a great off season training for all the muscles you need to keep fit to sled in the winter time!  Eating healthy too is a must!!   Here is a quick recipe for an amazing morning breakfast smoothie I start my day with everyday (I guarantee you will stay full till lunch time!)…

3 tbs of natural or vanilla yogurt

3 tbs of sprouted chia seeds

3 tbs of Barlean’s Greens powder (all your veggies you need in 1 day)

1 tsp of maca powder

1 tsp spirulina powder

1 banana

a small scoop of your favourite frozen berries

a bit of water to liquefy it

Enjoy!  Have a good summer and talk to you guys in the fall!!
